Altamont Child Development Centre

Enrolment

Joining the waitlist

Applying places no obligation on your family. It simply holds your place in line.

How it works

  1. Step 1

    Contact us

Telephone or email the centre. We will ask for your child’s date of birth and the date you hope care will begin.

  2. Step 2

    Come for a tour

We show families around during quieter parts of the day so you can see the rooms and the garden in use. Bring your child if you would like.

  3. Step 3

    We offer a place

When a space opens, we offer it to the next family on the waitlist. Your place is confirmed at registration.

  4. Step 4

    Settling in

New children start with short visits that build up gradually, so the first full day is not the first day.

Returned cheques
A $30 charge applies to any returned cheque.

Help with the cost of child care

Families may be eligible for British Columbia’sAffordable Child Care Benefit, an income-tested benefit for families using child care. Eligibility depends on your family’s circumstances, and you apply to the Province directly. Ask us if you have questions about how it works with our fees.

Common questions

What is the withdrawal policy?

If you wish to stop using our service, please tell us in writing, giving at least one month’s notice. Without proper written notice, there is no refund of the monthly fee or the deposit.

With proper notice, the deposit is refunded by cheque once the last month’s fee has been paid. The deposit is not refunded if a child withdraws within the first three months, and it does not count towards the last month’s fee if proper notice is not given.

Are the deposit and admission fee refundable if we change our minds?

No. If you decide not to enrol your child after registering, the deposit and admission fee are not refunded.

What if my child is away?

When a child is unable to attend for any reason, there is no refund, fee reduction or substitute day.

When is the centre closed?

The centre is closed:

  • during the West Vancouver School District winter holidays
  • on statutory holidays, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Easter Monday
  • during an electricity or water outage
  • when the West Vancouver School District closes schools for bad weather, such as storms or snow
When are fees due?

Monthly fees are due at the beginning of each month. Fees are raised at the beginning of April each year.

Before the first day

Before your child starts, we will ask for the information a licensed facility is required to keep, including emergency contacts and your child’s health and immunization information. We will go through everything with you at registration.

We will also give you a list of what to send each day, such as a change of clothes, outdoor rain gear and indoor shoes, so your child is ready for every kind of West Coast weather in the garden.
